The Meze Empyrean II is a flagship open-back planar magnetic headphone built around the advanced Rinaro MZ3 Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver, a transducer design that combines switchback and spiral voice-coil traces within the same ultra-light diaphragm. This architecture allows different sections of the diaphragm to be driven with exceptional precision, improving wavefront control and aligning sound propagation more naturally with the shape of the human ear. The result is highly coherent imaging, very fast transient behavior, and a more neutral and refined tonal balance, while preserving the effortless musicality and organic presentation for which the Empyrean platform is known.

From an acoustic engineering standpoint, the Empyrean II benefits from revised damping and optimized acoustic mesh treatment, contributing to greater midrange transparency, improved micro-detail retrieval, and more articulate low-frequency performance. The extremely low-mass diaphragm, working across a large active surface, maintains excellent pistonic control and very low distortion even at higher sound pressure levels.
