Where 700 S3 Signature are better than 700 S3
- The Bowers & Wilkins 700 S3 Signature models differ from the standard 700 S3 series not only in colour options but also in construction details.
- B&W confirms that the Signature versions use upgraded internal wiring inside the crossover, as well as improved crossover components compared to the standard models.
- The low-frequency drivers in the Signature series feature a revised spider design, providing tighter control, improved stability and a more solid low-end response.
- The Signature models also include cosmetic upgrades such as exclusive Signature finishes, gold-trimmed driver surrounds and, in the case of the 702 S3 Signature, an anodized black plinth.
- B&W does not publish a full parts list, so the exact capacitor types, wiring specifications and other crossover materials are not officially detailed.
- Listener impressions often describe the Signature versions as slightly smoother or warmer compared to the standard S3, though these differences depend heavily on the system and room.
700S3 Signature drivers
- Solid Body tweeter Milled from a solid block of aluminium, the solid body tweeter housing design creates an acoustically optimised housing for the tweeter – one that’s exceptionally inert and resistant to resonances.
- Carbon Dome™ tweeter C arbon Dome tweeters are a brand new technology purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double-dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
- Continuum™ Cone First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone represents the biggest step-change in midrange performance since Kevlar. Its woven, coated material provides highly controlled break-up, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange.
- Decoupled midrange The midrange driver in the floor-standers feature a decoupled design, adapted from a similar system in the 800 Series Diamond. Decoupling reduces cabinet colouration, and boosts midrange clarity.
