The Technics SL-100C uses a single-rotor coreless direct-drive motor with electronic control optimized for the inertia of its two-layer aluminium platter, eliminating cogging and reducing resonances through full-surface rubber damping on the platter underside.

Its static-balance S-shaped tonearm uses a gimbal suspension and high-precision bearings, while the rigid two-layer aluminium/glass-fibre-reinforced chassis and spring-rubber isolators suppress mechanical vibration; an Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge, 6mm tonearm height adjustment and a non-motorized Auto Lifter complete the design.
